FocusApps is back: what it is in 2026
After a long quiet stretch, the studio is rebuilt around one idea: focused software from Switzerland, kept small and independent.
A Swiss studio making focused apps for Mac and the web, the same way it has since 2009.
FocusApps started in 2009 with a Mac, the new App Store, and a simple idea: build small apps that each do one job and skip the rest. The early catalogue was tiny soundboards and utilities for the first iPhones.
It went quiet for a while. Now it's picking up where it left off: same name, same idea, much better tools.
Every message gets read by the person who makes the apps.
A pressure-cannon instrument for Mac. Every blast is synthesized live in real time, so no two ever sound exactly alike.
Real-time DSP only. No audio files. Under 5 MB, every blast sounds slightly different.
A translucent fog overlay drifts across the screen. The gauge needle reacts to what you play.
Full keyboard mapping on Mac, so every pad gets a key. Hold-to-spray gestures are coming to iPhone.
Universal binary, Apple Silicon and Intel. Notarized DMG, auto-updating via Sparkle.
A native menu-bar app that keeps your Mac awake, styled as an energy drink can. Left-click the can to charge; it fills and fizzes while it holds. Click again to rest.
A standard IOKit power assertion, the same kind macOS uses to stay awake during a long download. No kexts, nothing to configure.
Charge for a set time or indefinitely, +15 minutes on the fly, optional launch-at-login and last-used presets.
Holds an 8-second assertion refreshed every 10s. Quit Energize and your Mac is free to sleep right away.
No Dock icon, no window. Universal binary, notarized, auto-updating via Sparkle. Lives entirely in the menu bar.
Studio news and shipping announcements. Per-app changelogs live on each app's own page.
Pet nutrition, tracked properly. Track food, weight and health for dogs and cats in one app. Live now, in German.

The party responsible for the processing of personal data described here is FocusApps, an independent software studio based in Zürich, Switzerland. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected]. Full postal details are available on request.
This policy covers the focusapps.ch website and our macOS apps, CO₂ Cannon and Energize. The vetra.care web app is a separate service with its own privacy policy, available at vetra.care.
When you visit focusapps.ch, our hosting provider and content-delivery network automatically process technical data needed to deliver and secure the site — typically your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. This site uses no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising. It loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which means your IP address is transmitted to Google's servers when the fonts are fetched.
The website itself sets no tracking or marketing cookies. Our content-delivery network (Cloudflare) may set strictly necessary cookies to protect the site against malicious traffic. Because these are essential to operate the service securely, no consent banner is required.
The contact form opens a message in your own email program; it does not send anything to a server until you choose to send it. If you email us (directly or via the form), we process the data you provide — such as your name, email address and message — solely to handle and respond to your enquiry.
CO₂ Cannon and Energize run locally on your Mac. They require no account and do not send usage data, analytics or telemetry to us. When an app checks for updates (via the Sparkle framework) or you download it, the update or download server necessarily receives your IP address and basic request information in order to deliver the file. Energize and CO₂ Cannon store their settings only on your own device.
We rely on a small number of providers who may process the data above on our behalf: our host (in the EU), Cloudflare (content delivery and security), Google (web fonts), GitHub (software-update feed and download mirror), and, for any future App Store release, Apple. Some of these providers are located outside Switzerland and the EU, including the United States; where that is the case, transfers are based on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and applicable adequacy decisions.
Where the EU GDPR applies, we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site and apps (Art. 6(1)(f)), the performance of, or steps prior to, a contract when you download or contact us (Art. 6(1)(b)), and your consent where required (Art. 6(1)(a)). Processing in Switzerland is carried out in accordance with the revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP).
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected. Technical server logs are retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting; correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your request and to meet any legal obligations.
The website and downloads are served over encrypted HTTPS connections, and we work only with reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access your personal data and to request its rectification, erasure or restriction, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw any consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].
We may update this policy from time to time. The version published on focusapps.ch, bearing the date shown above, is the one that applies.
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the focusapps.ch website and the software applications published by FocusApps (together, the "Software"). By downloading, installing or using the Software, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Software or the website.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the Software on devices you own or control, for your own private or internal use. Applications obtained through the Apple App Store are additionally subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (EULA). This licence transfers no ownership rights.
All rights, title and interest in the Software, this website and their content — including code, design, text, graphics and trademarks — remain with FocusApps or its licensors. Except for the licence expressly granted in Section 4, no rights are assigned or implied.
You agree not to copy, redistribute, sell, rent or sublicense the Software; not to modify, decompile or reverse-engineer it except to the extent that such a restriction is prohibited by applicable law; and not to use it for any unlawful purpose or in any way that infringes the rights of others.
The Software may check for and install updates, including security updates, through its built-in update mechanism (for example Sparkle on macOS) or the App Store. Updated versions are governed by the Terms in force at the time of the update.
To the extent permitted by law, the Software and the website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer under Swiss law remain unaffected.
To the extent permitted by law, FocusApps shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data or loss of profit arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Software or the website. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for damage caused by unlawful intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory Swiss law.
We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Details are set out in our Privacy Policy.
We may amend these Terms from time to time. The version published on focusapps.ch at the time you use the Software or the website applies. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "last updated" date shown above.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force and effect, and the invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid one that most closely reflects its original intent.
These Terms are governed by the substantive law of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Zürich, Switzerland, subject to any mandatory place of jurisdiction available to consumers under Swiss law.
